Privacy Policy

SpiceBook is an independent romantasy project based in Canada, available at spicebook.co. For anything privacy-related, you can reach us at hello@spicebook.co.

• Account info. When you create an account, your email address and a display name. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your name, email, and basic profile info from them so we can create your account — we never see your Google or Facebook password.
• Membership & payments. If you subscribe to a Library Membership, payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — we only keep your subscription status so we know your membership is active.
• Your activity in the app. Scenes you save, heat ratings you give, books you request, and quiz answers — so the library actually works for you.
• Emails you opt into. If you join the newsletter or download something, we store your email address to send it (delivered through Resend).
• Basic technical data.Login and session cookies (including your “Remember me” choice) and standard server logs that keep the site secure and running.

• To create and run your account and keep you signed in.
• To give you the library — saved scenes, ratings, requests, and recommendations.
• To process and manage your Library Membership.
• To send the emails and downloads you asked for.
• To keep SpiceBook secure, working, and improving.

We do notsell your personal information, and we don’t run creepy cross-site ad tracking.

We use a small number of cookies that are essential to signing you in and keeping your session (including remembering you if you tick “Remember me”). Without them, login wouldn’t work. We don’t use advertising cookies.

We only share what’s needed with the trusted services that help us run SpiceBook:

• Supabase — securely stores your account and app data and handles login.
• Stripe — processes membership payments.
• Resend — delivers our emails.
• Google and Meta (Facebook) — only if you choose to sign in with them.
• Vercel — hosts the website.

Some “Buy on Bookshop” links are affiliate links — if you click through and buy, we may earn a small commission and Bookshop.org’s own privacy policy applies to what happens on their site.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data, except anything we’re required to keep for legal or accounting reasons (for example, payment records).

• See or correct your info— email us and we’ll help.
• Delete your account — email hello@spicebook.co and we’ll take care of it.
• Unsubscribe from emails — use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter, any time.

SpiceBook features explicit romance content and is intended for adults 18 and over. It’s not directed to children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

SpiceBook is based in Canada, and we handle personal information in line with Canada’s privacy law (PIPEDA). This policy is governed by the laws of Canada.

Our service providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries, so your information may be handled outside your home country — always protected as described here. Wherever you live, you can contact us to exercise your privacy rights.

If we update this policy, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top, and for bigger changes we’ll give you a heads-up. Continuing to use SpiceBook means you’re okay with the current version.
